At the beginning of this year we realised that our time was becoming consumed by work and we weren’t getting enough time as a family. We have dreamt of owning a place abroad but with our son at primary school we wouldn’t use it enough. Instead we bought a static caravan in north wales and have loved spending at least a weekend there every month. The time together is fantastic and means we focus on us as there aren’t the DIY jobs you end up doing at home. It’s now closed up for the winter but we already have our weekends and weeks planned for next year and can’t wait to get back there.

Earlier this year I was told I was being made redundant in the summer ,just so I had some money coming in a got another part time job which I did along side my previous one . Then I got kept on in different department of first job but have still kept second one as I thought extra money would be nice . 7 months on I am struggling and I know although the extra money is nice it’s not worth it in respect of how it’s making me feel and to be honest I just spend the extra on god knows what anyway . If you can both afford to drop some hours to have quality time the loss in money will be worth it .

I got that visa when I was 39, ten years ago almost to the day (Facebook reminded me). We went and are back, we will return to live one day, but probably not until retirement).
