Postponing Disney for a year
We were planning to go in July this year so we’ve only gotten around to booking Pop Century and paying the deposit.
My friend now has to have surgery so we won’t be able to go this year as not sure when she’ll have it. Does anyone know if Disney will allow us to change the date or shall we just cancel and lose the deposit? It’s no big deal to cancel but just wondered if the date could be postponed for a year. Thanks |

Going strictly by the T&Cs, it would be cancellation and new booking because you're changing years. But from my own personal experience of having to cancel (unrelated to Covid restrictions) they've always been very flexible on moving dates, transferring deposits between bookings, etc.
I would try and hold off cancelling until the 2023 offers are released though so you can try to transfer to one of those. They should be out before your balance is due, normally released in April. Edited at 12:56 PM. |

They should let you change the dates, providing there is availability at your chosen hotel. You might lose whatever benefits you had with that booking though (dining credits etc) so best to ring Disney to see what they say. They might charge you an amendment fee for changing too (used to be £50) My booking for this summer has been changed from Feb 2021, to December 2021, to august 22 with no issues.
