Yes, I live in Scotland too and my friend, her baby (well wrapped in the buggy) and I used to go out 3-4 times a week last winter. Hellish winds, pouring rain, got the grips on the shoes and went out on the ice. Once you're in the habit, it's not as difficult as you'd think. Plus you prep yourself with the thought of that hot bath you're going to have when you get back home.

I think having a short walk out even if it's rainy has different benefits but in the same time if I want to get to 10k steps, and I work from home, and it's dark when I finish work or before I log on to work - both walk in and out are good combo.

Rainy morning, hoping for dry hour to get out for my Christmas day walk but will get out even if wet

I’m not starting until January. I have lots of chocolate to work my way though.

Merry Christmas and a healthy new year!

I had the only goal to get out for a walk yesterday and we did! We came back drenched and had way too much food for the remaining of the day, as one would expect on Christmas but I am glad we got out for the walk

I want to do well with my habits today, apart form gym twice weekly as they are closed. With such easy going plan - if I am not able to eat 2200 calories and be happy with it I better get used to wearing bigger pants

Oat & Banana Pancakes for breakfast with home made raspberry chia jam
Lunch burger no bun ,air fried chips and slaw & salad
Dinner - tbd but it will be something with hake

Love this thread! I am on a mission to achieve my goals in 2022 as another year has gone by and I’m still at the same weight and fitness level… feel like I’ve wasted a year! Going into January with a pescatarian diet… something I’ve always wanted to try to make me learn how to cook fish and stop eating the same things!

Home gym almost all set up, ready for daily workouts- even 20 minutes is better than nothing!

I also work from home, as does my OH, but aiming to start with 10,000 daily steps and work up to 15,000

This way I'm still eating some of the meals I really enjoy but healthier versions. I do try new things also and have some new favourites as a result.

Use something to track what you eat and ensure you track every single thing. It's so easy to go over calories so you need to keep a check on them. Sauces, milk, fruit, veg, cooking oils etc all have calories even if only a small amount but they add up and need including in your tracking. Weight loss is simply science. Calories in Vs calories out. You just need to ensure your calories in are less than your calories out and the weight will come off over time.

Walk as much as you can, its great for the mind, body and soul.

Be as consistent as possible. If you have a 'bad' day, get over it and start again the very next day. A bad day does not need to equal a bad week/month.

Also have a bit of what you fancy or you won't stick to any healthy eating plan. For the record I've lost 7.5st since Feb 2019 and gone from a size 24/26 to a 12/14. I have had chocolate every single day without fail. My chocolate of choice is Flipz chocolate pretzels. I have 8 every evening with a cuppa.

Good luck all.im still on the journey so will be following this thread.
7.5st! This is amazing, well done you. I have a similar amount to lose. Would love to hear your tips/tricks for staying motivated in the early days.

Maybe some of us who are using MFP in the new year could share our usernames so we can follow each other on there? I love seeing other peoples food diaries and it holds me accountable!

I'm in 😁... desperately need to lose at least 3stone, I'm diabetic, was controlling with diet, but now I'm on metformin 😪 also pre menopausal, never suffered anxiety, but now it hits, I just need to receive an email where something is going wrong, previously I would have managed the situation, now I still do manage it, but the weight on my chest and the feeling of impending doom is difficult... I'm also struggling with my knee, I know my weight doesn't help, so I'm planning on joining slimming world, ensuring I get 10,000 steps a day, drinking 2ltrs water and morning meditation 🧘 xxx
2022 has got to be the change we are all looking for xx
