Good point, hope the fish are ok.
I ask my neighbour to pop in every couple of days when I’m away, to check for things like that, and I do the same for her.

I remember once I left the cat flap unlocked by mistake and a stray cat got in, but couldn’t work out how to get back out !

The owner put up a “Missing Cat” poster and by chance my neighbour spotted the cat - sitting on my windowsill ! 😱 she was able to liberate it 😂😂😂🐈

It is very common for UK travellers, up to 4 years ago I was a Business Traveller worldwide for 20 years, I only ever booked cancellable rooms, typically this is 1600 on day of check-in and have cancelled at 1559 on numerous occasions.

Business Hotels overbook on the assumption that there will be cancellations and I have been moved due to being full.

It is why if I know I will be checking in late, ie after 22:00, I always inform the hotel so they dont deprioritise me.
