Love my starling card! No oversea transaction fees and you get the MasterCard exchange rate so it's excellent.

The app is brilliant for listing your spending and when you buy something a notification pops up to show the amount in that currency and GBP

Yes starling is good, better protected and free cash withdrawals. It is a current account, so works just like any other current account, you use bank transfer to send money to it.

Monzo is just as good, the only downside to Monzo is if you wish to withdraw cash you are limited to how much you can withdraw for the month.

Love my Starling card, I have used mine across Europe, USA and Central America. My son's used his when travelling for 12 months.

Everything is in sterling, exchange rate is the Mastercard exchange rate at the time of the transaction so the best price and no fees.

I am looking forward to using Spaces so I have my holiday money sitting in my acct but move how much I want into the funds available on my card to protect from theft, I also think very useful for those who want to closely manage their daily budget.

Knowing instantly how much you have spent in Sterling is great.

I hadn't thought of that for Spaces. I was going to move it all over, but you're right, keeping it back in Spaces is far safer.

This is all good to hear...Starling is my main bank account but opened a Revolut for our US trip... May not bother using that now as u would need to transfer into Revolut then exchange to dollars etc...didn't even know what Spaces was but just set it up... cool.

Next to no point having Revolut if you have starling. The only plus to Revolut is you can convert money at any time, starling you get the exchange rate at the time of the transaction. So if you think the exchange rate is high at a certain point and likely to go down, you can exchange now. Though it’s a risk as you could be wrong and end up with a worse exchange rate

Another Starling lover here
i love the spaces function, its like having lots of little pots of money. I use it as my main bank account and generally use it like the "you need a Budget" YNAB every dollar has a job idea so I have a space for clothes, emergencies, car maintenance, Christmas, pets, Birthdays etc, work out how much I would need to save over a year then divide by 12 transferring that amount each month.
I have used abroad too and highly recommend
