Probiotics

Hi all, so I'm recovering from covid which I picked up over Christmas, I've been really unwell with this and still off work.

A friend of mine suggested trying probiotics, I know nothing about these, just wondering if anyone has any experience of them?

Thanks as always

Have a look at Optibac. We now take the cholesterol ones.

I take biokult daily and increase the dosage while having antibiotics

bio-kult/bio-kult-30-capsules/p2

I am lactose intolerant and these are fine for me.

You need probiotics if you have upset the bacteria in your gut. Usually after antibiotics or if you've had diarrhoea or sickness. I don't know that Covid affects these bacteria. The probiotic has a concentrated dose of teh bacteria your system should have. However, if they will help they will do so very quickly - best to take a very high dose decent brand for about a week. They won't do you any harm anyway

I'm lactose intolerant (at least temporarily) so struggle with the yogurt version, or finding casules which aren't coated. So I've been having the Oh So bars, which are small chocolate bars with all the good bacteria in. They're also over a billion bacteria, be careful with some supermarket brands as they can be a bit low in numbers.

I like drinking Nexba Kombucha. In fact I'm even thinking of brewing some of my own.

I did the York intolerance test and they have recommended some probiotics to me. I shall buy some when I get back home. I have been taking actimel but they do not recommend them.

This is really good to know as my DD is also lactose intolerant so can’t take the usual yoghurt based probiotics. I’ll definitely tell her about these.
