Sorry, can't help with any of your other problems.
Yes EU 261 still applies, as it’s a tech issue you qualify .

Hi guys.
So the flight with virgin Went perfect, staff was amazing especially as my youngest managed to be sick all over herself when we hit a bit of turbulence lol.
Off the other end expecting a big queue at customs and nope it wasn’t even snaking round once rather than the 5-6 lines long like usual lol
Things starting to turn good I thought, straight to the garage and explained to avis preffered flight had been cancelled and we arrived today so wasn’t on the board as expected, the guy got my booking ref and put it all back through, scanned my credit card which took £250 on hold, hope this is right as I can’t remember from previous bookings.
The Chrysler Pacifica wasn’t the cleanest car we’d had and 52k miles on it but I didn’t care, it’s got everything electric I’ll take it😂
Plenty of traffic heading to our villa in Kissimmee so didn’t stop at Steak ‘n Shake in the end, we just went for a quick checkers burger at old town and a Walmart junk food shop and home, its 8pm here 1am back home and the kids are playing in the pool and we have to be up early doors for discovery cove.
I’m still just so drained from all the stress of the last two days, I don’t get panicked easy but it’s been a nightmare!

We claimed the eu compensation 2 years ago (Norwegian airlines plane delayed over 8 hours going out), and it payed for five flights premium economy to New York a few weeks ago. Look on the positive side x
That’s amazing to hear, it sounds like we could get a nice payout then hopefully but even the wife said early on, even if we got a few grand for the 5 of us it’s going to take a few days to get over the tiredness and stress of what’s happened, we’re both so drained from it all.
Really hoping a good nights sleep will bring that florida buzz back as it’s just not here at the moment for us😢
Can I ask how you went about your compensation and how long it took?

Your poor daughter - hope she’s recovered from the turbulence!

Once you’ve had a good rest and had your day at discovery cove, I’m sure it will seem like a distant memory. Try to put it to one side for now and worry about the compensation side of things when you’re back home.

Enjoy your first full day today!

This is the link to the Form you require to make a claim.

EU261 is in the drop down menu listed as 'Issue'.

Best of luck, watertight case ref your claim.

Get the claim in asap. You may even get the cash before you leave Florida, which should help!

I put a claim in whilst waiting at baggage reclaim with Virgin and had the money in my account within a week. A friend claimed with BA a couple of months ago and had the money within a few days. Hopefully Aer Lingus are just as quick. Enjoy your trip.
