It’s so unfortunate that this is true. My husband is the most gentle kind person and last year we had a long conversation about why I’m more and more reluctant to leave the house after dark on my own and how I’ve always been on high alert when out without him. He was upset to discover how him, simply waking down the street, might have (probably would have) caused a lone woman distress. He said he was going to be mindful of this and keep his distance, cross the road to overtake etc.

well done you, for having the conversation. Its not that men like your husband dont care, its just that its not something they would ever know about.

RIP Ashling, so tragic Having girls of similar age brings it closer to home, it's all over social media here in Waterford, lots of anger, upset and shock. There's a run/walk at 4pm tomorrow on our greenway.

I ran this morning
I purposely wore my bright coloured club running t shirt with my name on it, I researched pepper spray on my phone before I left (didn’t realise it was classed as a weapon so not allowed) And for the first time ever, I shared my live location with John and he panicked when I’d stopped to chat to someone We shouldn’t have to do this 😣

I’m glad that you ran this morning! I’m sad that you had to take so many precautions but glad that you went anyway!
We are joining a memorial walk tomorrow on the canal , a bit further down from where Ashling was killed. It feels so insignificant but I feel it’s important to do. Sending hugs to everyone affected by this tragic death 💕 |

It is just so so sad, I was crying last night listening to Matt Cooper, just do senseless, and scary thinking that her killer is still at large, I hope the guards haven’t lost valuable time perusing the wrong suspect,
RIP Aisling 💔🌹 |
