Upgrading Seats at the Airport

I have never upgraded seats at the airport but I was wondering if you check in online when check in opens can you then upgrade at the bag drop desk at the airport?

It's a long time since I did an airport upgrade but Virgin Atlantic always handled upgrades at the separate ticket desk rather than bag drop or check in. The reason being ticket desk staff were VS employees, the other desks were outsourced.

We upgraded at BA check in desk last week. This was LA. It was half the price that was being quoted on the app.

Yes, we checked in online first. An upgrade to WTP was offered for crazy money (to us! ) When we got to the airport we asked when we dropped off our bags. The agent gave us a price that was less than half the online cost. Online it was �275 each. We paid 200 dollars for us both. (total)

Give it a try, he even let me stand on the scales to look over at his screen and pick our seats... I was only worried I'd set some overweight alarm off! 😂

Of course if you upgrade at airport you don't benefit from the extra luggage allowance.
