Celebrating Retirement Tour October 2019 - Day 20 Tuesday 22 October - Reality TV Stars
Had a lazy start to the day, it had worked out really well having these last few days to chill out in Santa Barbara with no need to drive anywhere.
Had breakfast at Sambo's, which was just around the corner from the hotel. We both had omlettes which came with home style potatoes, hash browns or fruit and toast or pancakes. It was delicious, and enormous portions, bill came to $32 including tip. We then had to walk off all those calories so walked along the seafront to East Beach. It was a nice enough walk, but a bit boring so we caught the Waterfront electric shuttle bus back to the Wharf and then set off in the other direction to explore the harbour. We had a nice wander round the harbour and stopped off at one of the bars for a drink. We had to walk through the Maritime Museum to get to it and the lovely lady in there told us that if we took the lift to the top floor there was a great viewpoint over the harbour. She wasn't wrong, it was only a small patio type area but definitely worth seeing. We had already decided earlier in the day that we would pay a visit to our favourite wine bar on Stearns Wharf today, Deep Sea Tasting Rooms, where you can sit outside looking over the water but as we were passing our hotel on the way there we decided to stop off to snack on some banana bread first as we weren't massively hungry after the huge breakfast. Luckily we just got to the wine bar as another couple were leaving as quite a few of the tables were reserved for a private party. We didn't know why at the time, but we got our bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and sat in the sunshine watching the waves, and even saw a couple of dolphins playing in the water. The next thing we knew a film crew arrived and were going round asking people if they minded being filmed and asking us all to sign a disclaimer that we wouldn't photograph or film any of the proceedings as they were filming an episode of Real Housives of Beverly Hills and we could end up on the show! We were sat right next to the "stars" as they were chatting, and it was extremely difficult trying not to roll about laughing at the absolute drivel they were coming out with 🤣🤣 It was all really entertaining and they were filming for about 2 hours so we had to purchase a 2nd bottle of wine 🍷 Big mistake! I really don't remember much else about the evening. I'm not a big drinker and 2 glasses of wine is usually more than enough for me so a full bottle to myself and I was totally gone. I don't remember walking there, but we ate at the Enterprise Fish Company where I had fish and chips and Brian had a fish platter. He says the food was very nice. I'll take his word for it 🤣 Link to previous days - https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1150994 |

I have been catching up on some West Coast reports in lockdown. Really enjoying yours, thank you.
All this reading has made me decide we must put California holiday on the list! Santa Barbara looks lovely. How fun you got to witness some filming! |
