Villa payment question - is this standard?
Hi,
We’ve rented a villa for two weeks with home away in October and have paid half already with the final payment due August. We’ve been in contact with the villa owner and have asked whether it would be possible to move the booking to next year, the owner has said yes providing we pay the final balance in August still. Is this standard? I would of expected the payment date to change or is this his discretion? Thanks x |

We've done the same - have only paid deposit so far and the villa owner has been kind enough to allow us to move our deposit across to a villa for next year instead. He has moved the payment due date to next year. There is a slight increase in price due to annual price rises, I'm more than happy with that - we could have lost our deposit. It wouldn't be normal to pay now for next August but the alternative is to cancel (lose your deposit) rebook for next year and not have to pay balance until next year. Tough one! I'd be a bit cautious, interested to hear what other dibbers think.

I’d be wary of paying in full this year for a villa next year.
As PP, the villa owner we’d booked with for this year has moved our booking and deposit to 2022.

It is within the owners discretion to move the balance due date, i have moved all balance due dates on all the bookings i have moved to different dates, but it is down to each individual owner how they manage this.
