Wow... I am exhausted.

I have a cruise booked for November 2019 leaving Fort Lauderdale so I thought I would try and plan another 10 or 11 days around the cruise.

We have decided to skip Disney and book Universal for a week. I got a great deal on my Universal 3 park passes. I thought I would look at flights for November 2018. Being so far out, I was very restricted. I went to my local Virgin shop, called Virgin, Kenwood Travel, Ocean Florida, Travel City Direct etc etc. I found a price that I was happy with and paid my deposit.

I am laying here on my sofa absolutely shattered. I have 2 nights prior to my cruise and 3 nights after that I need to plan around, I feel that I cant do it without you guys. Any ideas of places I could try away from Orlando for these two stints. My wife fancies Miami but I have no idea regarding areas/things to do etc?

Please help

Sounds like a great trip planned! I have no knowledge of Miami, but we are doing the odd night at Clearwater npbeach before we move to our villa, do you both fancy the beach?

A lot of Dibbers love Anna Maria island too, there's lots of lovely places to choose from in the gulf coast.

Happy planning, I'm sure there will be lots of suggestions from seasoned Dibbers!

We loved Miami the beach is fab and the general atmosphere was good I'd probably only do 2 nights max though and it's fairly expensive to eat and drink around Miami.

Can you advise where you got your Universal three park tickets for Nov 2019? That's over 2 1/2 years away. Some ticket sellers aren't even selling 2018 tickets yet. It would be good to know as it can help some long term planners on here.

We stayed in Cape Coral last August after 2 weeks in the parks and it was marvellous, I'd definitely recommend it.
We went on day trips to Sanibel Islands, Captiva, an airboat tour in the Everglades, Vanderbilt beach, dolphin watching cruise etc. Gorgeous!

You can hire a boat easily too and visit the outer barrier islands.

We went Clearwater for the day and agreed we would have liked to stay longer. Some lovely hotels right on the beach. Took a boat trip to see dolphins and boy, did we strike gold. We had about 10-20 Dolphins jumping in and out of the water right next to the boat. It was brilliant. We did Little Toot! The drive to Clearwater was amazing too. Water either side. So maybe Miami before and a mini road trip on west coast Florida after (or vice Verda) ? I do want to go to Anna Maria Island as heard such great things on The Dibb about it. Also I haven't been (yet) but you could do Busch Gardens or the one with (is it) Summer the dolphin in the film with an artificial tail ?

Enjoy 😊
