Disney Riviera Resort

There was so much announced at D23 it seems the new Riviera Resort hasn't had much information shared online.

What's everyone think of this announcement and does anyone know what the theme is? French Riviera?

I think because it is DVC you will gradually see more info come on line as it is built.
Then there will be a mock up at the DVC centre probably, at SSR. So you could do a DVC tour before it opens I expect.

We bought DVC way back in 2003. SSR was a construction site and they were still demolishing the old Disney Institute to create the land needed..

Our Guide told us the next DVC Resort to be built would be a Mediterranean Village theme. Took their time!

As an aside it was planned to go near the Contemporary but test drilling showed the ground wasn't suitable.

I know its just one picture but my initial thought is that it looks a bit faceless. To me it looks like a nice hotel but one which could be anywhere in the world. But hey just my opionion and i am someone who loves a bit of over the top themeing!

I understood the original Mediterranean resort was many years before all of that. en.wikipedia/wiki/Disney...rranean_Resort

Also - there have been DVC resorts since Saratoga Springs opened - Treehouse Villas, Animal Kingdom Villas, Baylake Tower, Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

I agree which is why I was asking what the theming was going to be! Very peculiar for Disney to announce a resort without touching on the theme.

There is actually a lot more history and info about that project than just the Wikipedia article.

Actually I was aware of the other Resorts!

Pity the Eagle Pines project never took off, that would have been very good plus a nice location.
