I think they do have an element of Snowbirds but no more than Orlando. Pussycat

That said we have just passed 50 we stayed at la playa in a gulf view room which was an absolute fortune, I'd never pay that a again. I have seen this resort a few times so am also very keen to see what deal the op had.

Don't be surprised to see the odd Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Bentley etc!
Everywhere along the Gulf Coast attracts snowbirds.
Eateries on 5th Ave/3rd St can be pricey compared to other parts of Florida especially in peak season (Jan-mid April); some offer more reasonable menus in the low season (Jun-Sept); however, there are reasonably priced eateries too, more so if you venture away from 5th/3rd & the beach.
Naples has a more European feel but we've not found it snooty.
Thanks everyone, sorry to hijack OP . Shorts and tops sound good as that's all we wear, I looked at La Playa this afternoon, lovely but I keep thinking of other stuff I could pay for with that money, thanks for the tips about eating out

just throw my two pence worth in, I stayed in naples last week at the inn at pelican bay absolutely beautiful hotel, there was a resort fee of $15 a day but that included breakfast for everyone and golf buggy transfers to the beach, there is a lovely publix next door for food/snacks and a restaurant/shopping type place across the road with lots of nice bars and restaurants I cant wait to go back.
