Which is the best gulf coast beach for a day trip?
We are staying in Lindfields and I fancy a day on the gulf coast.
We have 3 children 11, 9 and 5 so don't want to do hours of travelling in one day. The obvious choice seems to be Clearwater but I wondered if there was somewhere less obvious which I hadn't thought of. |

Anna Maria Island, or Siesta Key Beach.
They're just across the bridge/bay from St Pete, west of Sarasota it's a bit further down the road than Clearwater, but you can do most of it on the I75 when you'd have to crawl along 60 to Clearwater Beach from Tampa so it might not add that much of a driving time google them up |

Fort Desoto national park - just lovely.
Warm clear water with a sandbank to swim out to. We've had two fantastic days here. Easy parking, toilets and showers.
