Obviously I am used to seeing beggars in London but for the first time ever we have a homeless guy in our little town. I have given him money if I have some to spare (I tend to use cards so I am often literally penniless.) He may or may not be genuine but it's not a risk I want to take, and it's not going to affect me really, anymore than chucking the odd thing into the charity bins in the store, whether for homeless, soldiers, cats or dog charities.

Must admit this thread has made me feel much better. Last night DH and I went to the theatre and there were loads of beggars after the show including one with a dog. I wanted to do something but didn't have any change, I did check they all had hot drinks otherwise I'd have bought them one, but felt awful on the way home for not giving them anything.
Feel much better now! |

Strange coincidence, I have just seen my local area Facebook page are discussing "our" beggar. I think he is going to become quite the local project.
