Multi-destination trip Boston/Orlando/NYC

Hi, my family and I are planning a multi-destination trip to America in August. We are flying into Boston, staying there for three nights and then flying to Orlando, where we are planning to stay for seven nights, before flying to NYC, where we will stay for five nights. I am currently looking at internal flights Boston-Orlando and Orlando-NYC and hotels in all three locations. Does anyone know if one checked bag is included on internal flights when you fly Economy with United/AA/Delta?

Depends on the fare class - but most of the cheapest economy fares are hand baggage (or even no baggage) only fares.

On most US domestics though you can add a bag for around $30

Have you done these locations before though? I don't think the time you've given to BOS and NYC is enough, there is far too much to see in each for the time you have. If that's all you have then that's all you have, but if you can add a couple of days to each you will get so much more out of those legs of the trip

If you take a look at Southwest Airlines, they have good prices and you get 2 free check in bags each, though flights only go on sale around 6 months before travel.
All of the others charge around 25/30 per bag I believe

Have you looked on Skyscanner, Kayak and others for multi flight options. We enjoy similar vacations and have generally found that this is where we get the best deal, booking the internal part as part of the multi flight.
Internal US flights tend to be hand baggage with a premium paid for hold luggage. When I have booked multi flight (with Delta), I have never had to pay for hold luggage.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your advice. We have only done Orlando before, which was last summer when we spent 12 days there. Ideally it would be great to have more days in Boston and NYC, but we have already booked the flights to and from the UK so the only way that could happen would be if we stayed a shorter time than 8 days in Orlando. As it is now, we get 7 days in Orlando and 6 days of sightseeing in Boston (2) and NYC (4), which we think is fair for everyone in the family.

Thank you, I will definitely look into Southwest Airlines. I have heard that airline doesn't appear on Skyscanner and Kayak.

Yes, I look at Skyscanner and Kayak regularly, this is where I found the flights with Delta/AA/United. Thanks for your tips about multi-flight trips. We have already booked the flights from the UK to the US, so are now only looking for internal flights.

Did you look at your internal as part of your multi flight at the time? Even if it's right in the middle of a 3 weeker, we would seek to tie it in to the multi flight booking.

No we didn't as our transatlantic flights are with Norwegian and as far as I'm aware, they don't do domestic flights in the US.
