We found the same , we need two bookings as we are doing a twin centre stay
Went back to BA flydrive as it was just shy of £1000 for the two bookings ( group w ) suv with Avis otherwise
The £100 more each to go first instead of business sweetened the deal a bit 😬

No idea why ours from the 14th September to 1st October has gone up so much then, just rechecked and definitely £716.82 pay now £752.68 pay on arrival for those dates. Will keep checking though, just in case it roller coaster's back down.

On the back of my booking I have had a 10% off voucher with rentalcars.com. I am not sure if its one use or anything but its below if someone can make use of it.

I’ve just booked with Andy at DFCH.

Intermediate SUV for 3 weeks in October for £611. It was booked under Alamo and it was the same price to go for the Alamo Max which includes a free upgrade to a standard SUV and spouse as an additional driver.

Ideally need a full size SUV so will keep checking but if not, will haggle an upgrade when we get to Alamo at MCO.

Ebookers have deals on compact, economy, midsize, standard & full size cars with Budget.

I’ve booked a midsize, 9th-25th August 2021, collect & return from MCO for £441, which has been the cheapest I could find, so far. Cancellation is free up to 6 hours before pick up.

I have bookings currently with Auto Europe, Andy and Rentalcars.com. I did use Virgin Atlantic stand alone hires for a long time but about 18 months ago their prices became too high for my dates albeit others did get good deals.
