Accident advice

Have just heard from friends who have been involved in a three car bump, theirs being the 2nd/middle car.
No serious injuries.

Should they involve a lawyer?

The front car, driven by an American and whose car isnt even damaged is complaining about blurred vision and pins and needles.
From what I can gather our friends car and the car that ran into them are badly damaged but all families are ok. The car at fault was being driven by a German and he is apparently very unhappy with the Americans “acting”.
This car in front doesnt even have a scratch and from the report our friends car only just came to rest on the bumper.

Sorry Mods, just noticed the thread error.

If they want to make a claim for personal injury then yes they should see a lawyee, but they’ve got 3 years to do it so should let the dust settle and see how things pan out, including any injuries.

The insurers will sort out the car and any damaged personal property.

OP. Did this bump occur in America? I ask because you mention an American driver.

If it is an American accident then I wouldn't get involved at all in your friends situation. He will have CDW and SLI and the SLI will cover all 3rd party issues with the rental company doing all the work as they 'self insure'

Yes, it occurred in Orlando.

From the sounds of it the American is trying to make a money mountain out a bit of flea dung.

Sounds like this jackass has looked in his rear view got out had a look and seen that his cars bumper was “touched” and thought tourists I’m gonna make a quick buck.
Terrible, two families, involving kids are involved in a collision and were all very badly shaken up yet someone is trying to make money out of their situation.

People do this every day all over the world. Their insurance will sort it. Yeah if he’s putting it on it’s scummy behaviour but they don’t have to deal with it at all - the insurance will.

I wouldn't be so sure that their insurance 'should' include legal protection because that is an add on that not everyone buys (me and the wife never pay for it). Some insurance companies try and include it automatically and add the price onto the cover cost.

Having read some of your replies I am going to check my Hertz cover, one would assume Hertz include a decent package?

Both our frinds are feeling the effects today everyone feeling sore and not so keen about getting back behind the wheel over there.
