DVC experts...I need some advice. :)

So, we are heading back to Florida in August this year. We're staying off site for a week at a cheap Universal hotel and then have a two weeks book at AKL.

I was thinking about surprising my family by staying at BLT the night before we go to AKL. We won't be able to go in the park because our tickets won't be live but I figured we could spend the day chilling there and looking around some of the resorts - maybe a skyline cruise about and then back to BLT for the fireworks that night.

I've checked and I need 25 DVC points to book it (Magic Kingdom view).

So my question is:

How likely is it for me to be able to find someone willing to sell me points for one night?

If I go through a big DVC points resale company, would I be able to buy points for one night or do most DVC owners (understandably) prefer to sell their points in bigger chunks?

It's quite likely someone is willing to rent their points out. We did it last year when we had a few points left over and instead of banking them we rented them out. You can go through someone like David's DVC rental as they are highly rated.

August is a slow time of the year. Do you really want theme park view? That may be more difficult to get. If you could settle for lake view, you have almost 100% change to get it, probably even at 7 months, booking with cheaper points from other resorts. For theme park view I'd look for someone with BLT points and book as soon as possible.

I think a lot of members only have 25 to 30 points to rent out so I wouldn't think you would have any issue finding someone to make that reservation for you.

Yeah, needs to be the theme park view as it's a special treat. We'll be getting up the next morning and going for breakfast at Chef Mickey's, which is our family tradition.

Maybe, I've left a bit late...we'll see.

Thanks for your advice.

The DVC rental store allow for reservations at less than 50 points but you pay a $1 premium, Dave’s website says a minimum of 44 points.

We normally have a 30 point minimum at dvc-rental but as the newest Sponsor on the resale side at Buy and Sell DVC (same company just the Resale side of it), you can send me an email personally at scott@dvc-rental.com and we'll bend the rules for you a bit.

Thank you so much. I managed to book it at the weekend but you are very kind to offer.
