MDE for dummies - help!

We’re a month away from booking our ADRs, so I’m trying to wrap my head around MDE. I have an account, which shows our hotel stay, our Disney tickets and our DDP. It shows all four of us as guests - DH, DD12, DD8, and myself.

I’ve just added my credit card to my account, but we want to add DH’s card too. Does he need to make his own MDE account? And how does it work having his own account while showing as a guest on my account? (and presumably me showing as a guest on his account?) Will it mean that either of us can book ADRs, FPs etc, for all four of us, and the bookings will just show up on both of our accounts? Or will that complicate things?

Please feel free to correct me if I’m asking the wrong questions / totally misunderstanding how MDE works. I just can’t understand how it works for multiple accounts within one family, all travelling together. On any other holiday, I’d just book everything for all four of us, so everything goes to me and it’s all straightforward.

Any explanations / MDE guides for dummies / links to more information would be very welcome!

You can't link two credit cards to one account at the same time, although you can change it at any time if you need to. The credit card charging would rarely be used anyway, it is mainly for reserving ADRs but there would be no charge unless you are a no show. If you are buying specific event tickets, then you can change credit card if need be at that time. Any purchases you make in the parks or resorts would be charged to the room not the card on file and you can pay your room off however you prefer.

You are all set up and I can personally see no benefit in complicating things within one family unit by your DH getting his own account now. He can download the app onto his mobile device and you can use a single logon id and password so both of you can do whatever you want.

This is what we do, we have one single account which is in DHs name, I don't have an account but I am in the family and friends list of DH's. Both of us can do whatever we want, in practice I do the majority.

Thank you, I hadn’t realised that about the credit card. I somehow thought we needed the credit card on our account to cover magic band payments etc, but that’s much easier if we can just pay them off with either card in person.

You do need to add a credit card to your account in order to book ADRs, but it won’t be used. As I do all the organising it is a credit card in my name that is added to DH’s account, it doesn’t matter what name it is in.

Magic band purchases will definitely not be charged directly to your credit card, they will be charged to your hotel bill.
