Question Halifax Clarity Credit Card Users - Updated T&C's

Morning all

I've just received a letter from Halifax explaining the changes to T&C's for the Clarity Card from Feb 20

The way I read it, we'll no longer be getting cash from WAWA without incurring fees

Ah well, good whilst it lasted.
The Clarity is our holiday card , used exclusively (in theory ) for booking and using abroad . We don’t use much cash anyway it’s all card but one of our current accounts is NatWest fee based for insurances mainly but I notice it’s no foreign transactions too with the debit card.

Thanks for this, I use this card on holiday too . Halifax are definitely making a lot of negative changes... Perhaps look at Monzo and/or Revolute which I have moved on to. They act in the same way as a debit card, so no credit involved unfortunately but still work well with free cash withdrawals.

Wouldn't touch Revolut with a barge poll. They have very suspect operating practices and are being investigated for them. It also treats its employee's horribly with a very high staff turnover because of this. It is also the worst performing challenger bank for number of complaints. Twice that of Monzo for example.

Some of the other challenger banks are worth considering though, but look very carefully about whether they are regulated and how your money is protected.

Never use the Halifax Clarity for cash, or keep debt on it so the latest really mean no change.

I’ll keep mine. Not stopping using it because you will get charged for withdrawing cash at an ATM. I’ll just keep using it as it should be used...for purchases.
Here in the U.K. I don’t carry any cash with me at all. If it doesn’t work somewhere I have another two CCs and two DCs with me.

But of course each to their own. You will have your own valid reasons for binning yours. and there’s no rights or wrongs to this. We all just make our own decisions.

I like to have this card with us in case we get unexpected expenditure (code for me buying a Dooney & Bourke )

We also take some cash, and I pre-load up my Starling card which is a good exchange rate compared to my bank.

I wouldn't get rid of my Halifax card just because they charge for getting cash out at the ATM. Its so handy if you needed it.

Thanks for the heads up, my new card came in this morning and I haven't read any of the blurb yet. We come home on 21st and I don't think I've ever withdrawn cash on it so no real change there.
Tend to use my Monzo most of the time.

We got our letter this morning too and the only change we could make out was about the cash withdrawals from ATMS. Thankfully we don't use it for that anyway, so will keep and use as normal. An awful lot of paperwork to not say a lot!

I also had our letter today. The change I could see was that that cash withdrawals would be converted to sterling at time of transaction or when added to the account. I didn’t read this to mean a charge was being made to withdraw just the timing of the conversion to sterling was changing. I’m probably just thick and didn’t understand it ! We do use it to withdraw cash. If charges are being made we will just use it for purchases instead.
