Resort hopping/tour at Universal - anyone done this?
I know a lot of people who are off site will go to Disney and hop around the resorts having a drink/snack in each - has anyone done this at Universal? What route would you do? Are there any restaurants/bars etc you would recommend more than others?
We are staying at Cabana Bay - Just trying to plan something fun to see all the other hotels too!

I have stayed in Universal hotels a few times, I have visited other hotels for meals, but I have never been tempted to resort hopped as I would at Disney. Still it looks pretty easy to wander over to Adventura and Sapphore Falls in particular from Cabana Bay. I haven’t been, but I have seen photos from the rooftop bar, Bar 17 at Adventura hotel so I would put that on the to do list.

We are going to cabana in sept so will follow this thread with interest.
I do know you can use the pools at the other universal hotels including the top hotels unlike disney. We stayed at the royal Pacific and the pool there was fab Edited at 06:10 PM. |

Oh looks like we will be there the same time! 😃
Yep pool hopping sounds lots of fun. Will definitely have to check out Royal Pacific - thanks for the tip!

Oh that’s a fab saving, but we don’t drive over there (would love to one day but I’m terrified of it). I did consider it the first year we went out there but I was under 25 at the time and the young driver surcharge alone worked out more than two weeks of Uber rides. Noticed last year Uber prices are a lot higher now though, so hoping to save quite a lot by staying on site at Universal! We are there from 3rd until 23rd September!

I found this resort map so you can download and print off to give you an idea of hotel locations.

Oh that’s great I’m going to get planning!
Aw that’s so kind of you, we are considering a day at Disney - there are only the two of us. We will have to keep in touch!

Yes always on here.
There are only 2 of us going so plenty of room in the vehicle. Looking on the map it seems the best way to get around the resorts is by boat which is a short walk from cabana to the sapphire falls. Someone also mentioned universal puts bus transport on at certain times to link up the hotels If you look on Google maps you can walk between the resorts. The furthest being Loews portofino bay hotel at just 2 miles Edited at 08:33 PM. |

You can get the ferry to Citywalk from Sapphire Falls and then either walk or get the ferry to Hard Rock, Portofino or Royal Pacific
Portofino is worth visiting for the opera singers on an evening, sat on the plaza with a beer listening to it is great. The 3 deluxe hotels are all worth a look around if you haven't been - the theming at all 3 is excellent. Just wandering around and enjoying the ambience, looking at the props at Hard Rock, the decor at PBR and RPR. The pools are all worth a visit as well. In terms of restaurants at the hotels - Royal Pacific = Tchoup Chop was great but that has gone, Jake's bar was very average when we ate there, the sushi restaurant is your best bet if you like it Hard Rock / Portofino = Only eaten at the Kitchen as we were Club at Portofino and The Palm was too expensive to justify taking the kids The Kitchen was good and they had a character meal which was entertaining. All of the Italian restaurants at Portofino are well reviewed so Mama Della's or Bice look worth a go. |
