Our 8 year old Gds has children’s mouth guards from the orthodontist
Only because his Dad did as a child and it had an impact on his otherwise perfect teeth same dentist DS hasn’t a fillingor lasting effect due to dentists
Vigilance when he-was a teenager and he’s 34 next month

My 6 year old daughter does this - it sounds horrendous and she's woken me up a few times when she's been in our bed.

I'll follow this with interest!

It can be caused by stress and anxiety as well especially in children and teens

Yes I did read this. But I’m not sure as she’s a very happy child and we’ve just been away on holiday where she had not a care in the world other than which pool to swim in and still did it!

My dd 7 does this and dentist says all is ok.

Me and ds 19 clench our teeth and are getting mouth guards made.

My son did this too. His baby teeth ground down quite badly because of it. It looked bad but everyone said it was nothing to worry about and his big teeth would be fine. He’s 14 and has finally grown out of it and his big teeth are great.
I had the same problem when I was a child and I ended up with a jaw that would lock up and not open properly in my teens. A custom made bite guard sorted me out but my son was never offered that.
I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the anxiety theory either, I don’t think it played a part in me or my sons grinding.

This is interesting because my daughter is 15 and she grinds her teeth when doing exams. She gets pain from it. She stops grinding when the exams have finished. I have a night guard and even tried Cerezen ear molds as I mentioned on another post. The dentist said my daughter is too young for a mouth guard as her jaw is still growing.
