If you’ve already booked hotel, tickets and got free dining, then the exchange rate isn’t really going to make a difference as those are locked in and you know you’re not going to go hungry. As for the flights, I’ve never seen them so cheap! When we went last September the flights were the cheapest we’d ever paid!
If it’s souvenirs/clothes etc, you just have to weigh up if it would be cheaper here. For example, last year I bought some Levi’s for $39.99 + tax at the Outlet, one of the pairs I got need replacing, the exact same pair from the Levi’s store here would cost me £70. I also bought myself a Pandora bracelet, when I checked the price of the bracelet here there was minimal difference in cost, talking couple of £’s, but the charms I got were Disney Park exclusives, so I know I couldn’t get them anywhere else. The exchange rate certainly wouldn’t stop me going, but it definitely makes me consider my purchases more that it would have when we travelled at $1.60-$1.80.

We have booked one week hotel and DDP and three week tickets, we plan to go for a month though I will need to fly home for a few days in the middle. So we have 3 weeks food and accom to pay for.
So say at least $4200 for accom and food based on $200 per day which is what we can work to. We also have Universal tickets, fuel, KSC, baseball other entertainment and things like ice cream and snacks and the shopping. I suppose I could just do three weeks instead but really don’t want to Edited at 09:37 AM. |

It will be interesting to see what the prices for 2021 are going to be, that's when we will start to see the real impact to prices. I think a lot of the travel companies are carrying the cost at the moment l wouldn't be surprised at a 25% increase in holiday prices, but this will be the same on holidays to other countries as well not just to the US.

A boy thing?
My sister and I have been SW fans since we were kids. I was old enough to see SW at the cinema in the 70’s and have spent my life waiting for a SW ride at WDW. So no, most definitely not a “boy thing”. |

Ah, you didn’t mention you were only onsite for 1 week and going for a month in your first post.
We stay offsite. What we do is only have 2 meals a day. We like to eat out on holiday, but last year our daughter, then 3, had other ideas at the end of a long day, and we ended up eating in quite a few times, we were in a townhouse, which saved a fair bit. We would have a good breakfast, usually at Denny’s and then have an ice cream mid-afternoon and dinner between 7-8pm. We popped to Publix and ensured we had snacks for DD, small bags of cookies and bananas generally (we are on holiday after all,) and some cereal for her as she’s always hungry when waking up. When we’d get to Denny’s, DD would have a side of sausage or toast, and along with the snacks this kept her going until tea time. We also took our own water to the parks, 1 bottle each, think we went through 12 gallons in the whole 2 weeks, 5 gallons was $2-3 last year, and when we’d finished what we’d taken we filled up at the water fountains, unless we were eating in the parks, we didn’t buy any drinks in them. You can make it as expensive or as cheap as you want, I guess it depends if you’re willing to make a few compromises. Edited at 09:55 AM. |

The exchange rate would never stop me going to the USA. We don’t do Disney anyway, but the rate is still better(just) than the euro exchange rate, eating out is still good value

We have never been fortunate enough to get over about 1:60. Normally have went about 1:45. Our first holiday to the states was Vegas which is just expensive. It’s what it is. Our next few were to Vegas so Vegas prices were what we were used to.
Our first trip to Orlando was 2013. We have been every year since barring 1 , but have also been lucky enough most years since then to also have gone another holiday to somewhere else in the states as well. We are off in just over 3 weeks to Orlando again, this time with family. Sil, Bil, and 4 nephews. We have a plan to have packed lunches and have only a couple of meals booked onsite. Tickets were expensive as we have Disney and universal. We have the same amount of spending money that we had in 2013. But we won’t be spending the $1000 on gifts, souvenirs and nonsense that we brought back that first time. My dh said something recently that has made a lot of sense. We can eat a really good steak in the Texas Roadhouse for about $20. Not the £50 it would cost her for the same thing. I wear Levi’s. £80 a pair here , 2 for that in the outlets. We are booked for next year for my 50th. First time we have done ddp. I am looking at it as pretty much an all inclusive holiday so what we pay to go we won’t really spend that much when we are there. I’m not sure when it would be low enough not to go, I think we would just go less and not spend as much. |

If you're going for a month then it would impact you more, most of us on here go for the standard 2 weeks. Having to fly home for a couple of days would add to your costs too. I think a months holiday is something the majority of us can only dream about, both due to money and annual leave.

Tbh if what is, realistically, a small change in exchange rates makes it unaffordable are you possibly over extending yourself in the first place?
