I have a cruise blog (mybigfatcruise) if you wanted see photos from Anthem or Celebrity (and of course Fred Olsen who I work for!) I do love a cruise...

Have fun choosing your next one.
Out of curiosity I had to google Harmony of the seas to see what you meant about not seeing the sea and can see what you mean. Looks a monster of a ship.

I don't enjoy the big ships. Found Navigator to be too big for my liking. Our first cruise was Rhapsody which was ideal. Would bump into the same people quite often. Think the time of year also counts. We were Ventura this year which is theory is roughly the size of Navigator. However we cruise in July before the English holidays so far less children on board. Really enjoyed it.

Thank you, I haven't made any decisions yet but think I am probably wanting an Alaska cruise.

It would be for next August and we would combine it with a stay somewhere but definitely not Florida. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It would be for 2 adults and a 16 year old girl.
Was it the 18-25 August Cruise. We were also on that

My 16 year old niece was also with us. Wonder if they met.

We have done three from Southampton and we kind of prefer them, we found the food to be better on the Southampton cruises perhaps because of the ingredients that we are used to, we found too much salt in the food on Harmony. Still tasted good though just not as good as a UK cruise.

Yes it was that cruise. My daughter only went to the teen club one night, she said there was too much drama! I enjoyed the food but probably because I like rice, vegetables and salad so I preferred the windjammer to the dining room. I also liked that I could have curry, rice and vegetables for breakfast. I don't like food in Florida though, never enough variety of veg for me. Edited to ask which other ships have you been on?

Princess cruises are the specialists for Alaska I am told! Sounds like a great plan...

Brilliant thanks, I knew that Princess were good for Norway but didn't realise they were the specialists for Alaska.

Fred Olsen are the best in Norway, our smaller ships can go right up into the fijords, where larger ones have to stay out to sea. I have been twice now, and was blown away by the closeness of waterfalls etc, it was just breath taking! Best food I have had at sea too. Ships are older, and many passengers older too but that doesnt stop us enjoying it, they have got RIB boats now too, for an even more exhilarating experience if you brave enough!

For Alaska, am told Princess have good land tours, and trains etc, all geared around the cruise destinations. Its on my bucket list. (Its a long list)

Oh I had heard that Princess were the best cruise line for Norway but maybe whoever told me was getting muddled up with Alaska. Do you think there will be enough on a princess ships to entertain a 16 year old? She doesn't like teen clubs but did enjoy the shows and other entertainment on our Royal Caribbean cruise. I don't mind travelling with an older crowd and the Fred Olsen ships would probably be a good option when we go without children. I have always wanted to visit Norway but then again as you there are many places on my bucket list.

Yes at 16 any ship is fine, our kids enjoy everything we do on a ship, the food, shows, pool etc, and just other people around- theyve never complained! Oddly, they prefer fred olsen, as the activities include quizzes, table tennis, darts, deck games etc, stuff you often dont get on bigger ships. I am the one who loves all the climbing walls and roller skating!
