Has OKW been updated?

We have not stayed at OKW since 2011 and it was desperately needing updated back then.

Has it been updated since then?

It will be our 7 month window in a few weeks and looking at changing our booking from SSR.

Looking at either a 1 bed at BVW or for just 6 more points a 2 bed at OKW. Riviera is still in the mix too

they were updating the rooms when we went in October last year so should be finished my now, we didn't stay there but did check it out for our next stay

They finished the OKW update 2 months ago,

It is now very nice. The tired bathrooms are totally transformed. New counter tops, refurbed furniture, wooden floors, new glass behind kitchen worktops. Just search ‘Disney old Key West refurbished room’ on YouTube.

We just checked in to a studio today and it’s looking tired to be honest - the bathroom appears to have been redone though? V strange! Carpet is still in (and looks a bit threadbare in places) and the wooden furniture is scuffed and scratched. Was it only the 1 and 2 beds that got refurbed YT?

We’re moving to block 46 tomorrow so fingers crossed...so far OKW isn’t somewhere we’re in a rush to come back to!

I have just looked on YouTube and the studio refurb looks lovely. You would have thought all rooms would have been refurbed!

We thought the same in May. We love OKW and were previous owners there. It was the first time we’ve stayed in a studio, numerous one and two beds though. I don’t know what was wrong with our studio but we definitely weren’t impressed and glad we were only there for our first night.

My informant tells me there are contractual issues over some of the OKW rooms.

Wow this is the first time I have heard of this or the contractual issues. It was reportedly completed and done, they were down to the last buildings, maybe they never finished off a few refits. If I were an owner there I would be emailing DVC management and asking for explanations. I do think this must be the exception as I’ve seen dozens of videos, Facebook posts etc and never seen anyone reporting this.
Very good to know, can you let us know which block this is in so we can all avoid, as I was intending booking next summer?
I am wondering if they are mainly using these for cash stays? I would be unhappy to say the least if I got one of these.
