British Christmas markets
Hi All
Looking for some recommendations for some British Xmas markets, I have been to Edinburgh Xmas market quite a few times and I do love Edinburgh and the market, also been to Glasgow Xmas market. Although I am from Manchester I don't like Manchester Xmas market Any recommendations from anyone and I'm prepared to travel but want to stay in this country this year

Nottingham’s is nice. Only went once a number of years ago but it was better than anything in my vicinity (including York)

Birmingham has a good market. We go to Salzburg most years and Birmingham compared well to that.

Every year we wander around a good few.
Birmingham is a good size, but tends to be a bit like many of the 'Frankfurt Christmas Market' style. The same five or six stalls, repeated over and over, the same sausages, the same wine, the same beer, and the same novelty souvenirs. Prices have gone up a lot this last couple of years. Not cheap anymore, maybe their rents are too high. Liverpool, Manchester, Shrewsbury, Chester, all the same as Birmingham but smaller. For something different, farmers market, better souvenirs, local beers, try Portmeirion. If it snows it's like an enchanted forest. |

I live in Lincoln and have been a few times. It's been going downhill (no pun intended*) for a few years unfortuantely. The best one, IMHO, was 2011.
* The market is at the top of Steep Hill in Lincoln
