Interesting to read the changes to customs. Probably not make any difference to you and I going on holiday. But those same customs changes are huge for businesses. If they are moving from the blue channel to the red and green in airports the same will be happening at ports. And that’s the cause of the predicted delays.

Director of Calais port authority has said there will be no queues.
Businesses already have systems in place for the importation/exportation of goods outside the EU, so nothing should effect that.

It also brings back duty free goods at airports in tge EU for UK travellers

Hopefully we will be able to use the VAT refund thing in the airport post Brexit.

That's not quite what he said though. He was responding to the accusations that France would deliberately try to slow down movement of goods, which he said they wouldn't.

Yes we also import from round the world but that's not 10,000 lorries a through Dover. 🙄

According to David Dingle, the head of Maritime UK, “the nation’s biggest Roll-on Roll-off ferry ports will be affected, adding just 2 minutes to the average time a truck takes to get through the port of Dover could result in 20-mile-long traffic jams on the motorways nearby”

Project fear. When we leave in October we will see what rubbish this is. Yes, I know all about the Brexit threats, as I have an MP & L for a large manufacturer reporting into ne and everything is in place, including other pirts and other forms of transport, plus the ability to go to alternative suppliers outside the EU. It’s a big world out there and most manufacturers get goods from outside the EU and tgecEU has a lot mire to lies than the UK if they make it difficult. Bye bye German economy

Funny, I work for a shipping line and from speaking to customers and the ports we use..they are still very much in the dark. Yes,the infrastructure is there but they are expecting crippling delays and have had to invest in building extra warehousing etc but the biggest area that's going to suffer pain is road haulage as customers are switching away from this to short sea to try and avoid delays in the SE England ports & channel tunnel.

Anyone that thinks we can just look elsewhere for goods and trade on WTO is fooling themselves.

They have also just changed the signage to more prominent EU keep right, non EU keep left at Dublin airport, but it all went to the same area anyway.
They also have had for a while a lot more machine readers, and have been funneling people to them rather than desks. Yesterday, 80% of people were using the machine readers.
I imagine the airports and airlines will be very pleased with the reintroduction of duty free on this route.
A European National Identity card is used as a passport in the EU.

If methods and processes are in place as you say, this should be communicated to the public in some detail to allay “Project Fear”.

Hi Linda - whilst dated 11 August, take a peek HERE - headlined: No-deal lorry mayhem at Dover and Calais? 'C'est la bullsh**' replies French ports chief.
