We have used the train twice. Both times there were severe delays and we could have walked home quicker. One journey after an 11hr flight we stood for 6 hours as no seats-it was awful. Swore we would never chance it again. Ticket wasn't cheap either as had to have a flexible ticket in case flight was delays. Will certainly look at the Teeside option.

MME to LHR is a canny extra choice for NE leisure travellers, timings may limit a business traveller customer base, won't work for those heading to London for the day.

MME to LHR value fare, £55 with 15kg of hold luggage, an additional 15kg bag is £30. Their £229.99 flex fare includes a 23kg bag. BA economy plus, Ncl to LHR, is £59 including 23kg hold luggage and seat selection 48 hours pre-flight.
Yes the 15kg baggage allowance is a bit rubbish. It would be much more attractive to give a few more Kg’s.

Hiya Dawn, you don't need to buy flexible tickets as TPE offer a 3 hour Easement on all tickets. The Ticket Office chaps confirm your flight delay on their arrivals TV, countersign your tickets and put you on the next available train free of charge - we've used TPE's easement twice.

Agree re delays being a begger, 2018 May timetables were so mucked up staff didn't know what was happening! Instead of, no change, Man Airport to Durham we had to jump on a train to Piccadilly, luckily the next train in a few mins later, on the same platform, was up to Durham so our delay was only 10 mins or so. We've been fortunate, only faced two minor delays in 9 years of taking the train.

I know that spot well SF46... good job the barriers worked ... so close to home too. Good to hear that route is back .. useful for the future.😉
