We have stopped at the Ashling Hotel in Dublin a few times and if you stay make sure you get breakfast it is lovely. It is near the station and walking distance to Guinness factory, Kilmanhaim Gaol (which you would need to pre book a week before) and the zoo. It is not in the centre but the tram stops right near the hotel. You can buy a tourist travel ticket at the airport and this will cover you for buses and trams including bus from airport to the city centre.

When are you thinking of going? At the moment you'd have to quarentine on arrival in Ireland from the UK (except Northern Ireland)

I think hotel prices in Dublin are outrageous so tend to use UCD’s university campus accommodation in Glasnevin. Halfway between the airport and the city centre with bus stop outside for both , en-suite rooms , nice Courtyards outside each block, great breakfast included, Costa on site , pub and huge convenience store on site open til late.
