video camera

Hey,

We are sooo looking forward to our trip. We originally planned on taking our DSLR camera but, we have decided that realistically that will be a pain to carry around the parks.

We have decided on a video camera similar to what vloggers use but we don't know what to go for. It must be 4K. We aren't looking at using it for vlogging at all but for family memories.

Can anyone recommend one?

Thank you!

I am looking at a new camera for my trip also. My last holiday I used my iPhone on a DJI gimbal (Osmo Mobile 3) which worked great.

Only problem for this time is that I plan to use my phone for Genie+ and will be taking a ton more footage so would rather record onto an SD card.

What I am looking at buying now is the DJI Osmo Pocket 2. This is what some of the Youtube vloggers use and is nice and compact and records in 4K. Only downside to this is it is not great in low light. Also there is rumoured and strong predictions of a new model being released most likely in Nov/Oct.

I will be taking my SLR to cover the gaps as having worked in video production I feel weird not having it in my kit. But I think the Osmo Pocket is a great solution for being unobtrusive on holiday and quick and easy to get to work.

I don't really know much since I just use my iPhone for photos and videos these days but here's some examples of 4k cameras vloggers use:
-Sony ZV-1
-Sony ZV-E10
-Canon PowerShot G7X Mark III
-Gopro hero 10
Keep in mind most of them cost several hundred pounds.

I've used G7X Mk2 and more recently we use Sony ZV-1

ZV-1 has better focus and does 4K 30fps
G7X has better stability, but you'd need the Mk3 for 4K

I film in 1080p 60fps, nobody needs to see my ugly mug in 4k

When ever I am away I have a memory stick which I can easily transfer videos pictures to. I all so have a iPad which I use Amazon pictures so when I take a video I save the video to Amazon pictures then plug the memory stick in to iPad and save to that a bit around the houses but that what I got use to 😆. My partner takes pictures with her camera which had a sd card I can also save her pictures to the tablet

Thanks everyone, Hubby had a look and is still very much undecided. He also did not want to spend too much money. I have said about just using our phones! We bought a go pro thing off of amazon 6 months ago but when we used it on holiday as a practice, the quality was shocking, it was shaking and the sound was too quiet! Hopefully we will decide on one before we go.

I use a pocket 2. Small but powerful. Gimbal in the camera. Very good for vlogging round the parks. Fits in pocket. Don’t go over 5 mins on any single shot as the camera gets warm.

Peter - I have just got this camera for our trip to Japan - do you share any of your footage on YT or is it all or family viewing / private - would just love to see how footage looks when used in Disney
