I've been unable to find upper reward seats into Boston too, so flying man - jfk, collect car next morning then will drive to Cape Cod for 5 nights and onto Boston.
Will either fly or take Amtrax to Washington and fly back iad- lhr. This is April/May next year using 95,000 miles, a companion voucher and around £1900 for taxes and fees

Spookily, the flights I booked today were April/May next year! JFK was an option but I didn't fancy making the journey to Boston and then back again a few days later as it's about 4 hours on the train.

We'd originally planned Boston then Cape Cod, so just doing it the other way round now.
If you find any reasonably priced Boston hotels let me know please- the prices I've seen are extortionate!

Boston no longer appears to be a desert for UC seats. Almost snagged 2 on Monday but I was a couple of minutes too late but luck was with me and two appeared today. Less than 15 minutes on the phone this time and we're now flying in UC to Boston and UC from Washington next year. I can officially relax now. Well, until January/February when I need to renew my driving licence and start looking at train tickets to Heathrow.

Great news!
I changed our outbound flights so now flying into Washington as reward seats appeared. We're planning Amtrax to Providence, pick car up, 5 nights in Cape Cod (the air bnb We're able to accommodate slight date changes) and finish in Boston. Hope we fly to LHR on a new neo plane Holiday is a bit longer now - always a bonus! Accommodation all booked on cancellable rates so if something chaper comes up I will cancel. Still need to book Amtrax, car hire and decide on excursions
