Coffee Machine for dummies
Looking for advice on which coffee "pod" machine to get.
I know very little about them them despite reading about them on here and i cant make up my mind what one l need to get. I like a large mug of hot coffee, mainly decaf and i use coffee whitener. I usually drink Kenco Millicano ( a good heaped spoonful) and I bought myself some Starbucks Veranda Blonde for my cafetiere as unbelievably I don't think I had ever had one. I enjoyed the Starbucks, found it smoother than the Kenco although a bit weak, I use an extra spoonful when making it. I enjoy a hot chocolate but not sure i would enjoy flavoured coffees but i have never tried them. Obvs dont want to spend too much. Please help. many thanks

I had a vertuo for a good while and it is really easy to use with minimal cleaning. You only need the milk frother if you like a latte or cappuccino so if you use whitener maybe not. I’d get the separate frother though rather than a built in one as cleaning was a bit of a nightmare on my daughters. I’m not sure how suitable the pods will be if you like a large mug of strong coffee but others may be able to comment better. I like a latte but not too strong and they work great for me. I now have a creatista which I love but they aren’t cheap. I can change the temperature so make it hot which I couldn’t with my last one so often had to give it a blast in the microwave!

If you go down the Nespresso route have a look at the subscription service where you can get a machine for £1. You pay a certain amount per month for 12 months minimum but you have 36 months to use the credit.

If you buy one of the older style Nespresso machines you can buy Starbucks pods for it which are made by Nespresso. They do the Blonde roast too .
