Mobile Dominican or Mexico with kids?

Hi
Has anyone been to the Dominican Republic or Mexico with kids?
My kids are currently 12/13/11/11
And have only been to america (numerous times) and once to Greece
We are wanting to expand our adventures and fancy either Dominican or Mexico so looking for other peoples experiences and recommendations.
All inclusive and two weeks would be our plan
Any advise or story’s about these places is really welcome
Thank you

Not been to either but interested in this as we are looking at Mexico next year (mainly because it looks like there’s more to do there) we will have a 15 DS.

Mexico is fine for kids, really nice beach holiday with plenty of activities available - not been to Dom Rep so can’t comment on there.

Would suggest Riviera Maya/ Playa Del Carmen ( about 40 mins from Cancun) rather than Cancun itself as it can get a bit “Lively” there, especially around Spring Break/ other U S college holidays. Away from Cancun is also more of a relaxed beach destination.

Ive been to Mexico, there was lots to do there. More so for older children/teens (but the it has sand, what more does a younger one want?).
Xcaret was absolutely fantastic, so much to do. Not sure how to describe it, it has zenots to swim in, animals, shows, historic sites. Enough to do for 2 days easily.
There is a park you can zipline at We didn't go but it was heavily advertised - looked good.
We visited Cobra, think kids would like this too, but our trip visited a Mexican village after, there we canoed in, zip lined across, rapelled into a zenote (well my kids did, I chickened out),
We also did a trip to Sian Kaan in self drive jeeps (in a group) or a big wheel truck, then a boat ride where we saw turtles and dolphins.
We also visited Playa Carmen with lots of modern shops, Tulum, Chichen Itza

We have been to both Dominican Republic and Mexico with Kids .
We found both to be enjoyable and lots of activities we particularly like the Horse riding in the Dominican and the Dune Buggies.
We have found though that we are more inclined to go out for a walk in Mexico .
We tend to stay in the Playacar area as I believe the beaches are better for families .We often walk along the beach into Playa del Carmen Senor Frogs is right at the end of that stretch of beach Nachos and liquid refreshment stop .Cancun has a nice beach also but find the seas rougher there as well as more geared towards the spring break age tourist(personal opinion). We enjoy both destinations and so do the kids.

Sorry to jump on this thread, but what is the weather like in Mexico in August? We would be looking at the end of the summer holidays next year, been to Florida a few times at that time of year, is the weather similar?

We are going for the first time at the end of august and it sounds like the weather is similiar to florida at that time of year with high humidity and brief rain storms.

Mexico all day long.

Dominican’s great if you want a hotel based stay as it’s not very safe in some places outside of the resorts.

if you want to get out and about Mexico is the way to go, the beaches are fab for kids and there’s loads to do. It’s our favourite place after Florida

Also agree re Playacar/Riviera Maya is the best area for families.
