I don’t understand it. Do they do it for financial gain?

There are broadly two types...
- Locally-based vloggers who document the theme parks, such as construction updates, new attractions, menu changes, resort tours and dining reviews etc. Many of the more well-known ones in this space will be doing it as a full-time job. Their earnings will come from Adsense earnings on their YouTube views. Tim Tracker is probably the most well-known/most successful of these, but there are a LOT now. We watch a lot of vlogs as we like to see what's going on and get ideas for our own trips. Despite the fact that I have vlogs playing most of the day, as I work-from-sofa, I'd never heard of Rix Flix until I read this thread - and YT has never suggested him to me. This illustrates just how many of these folk there are now. - Holiday vloggers. These people document their holiday, generally one vlog per day, often starting at travel day - or even pre-travel day - and show where they stay, where they visited, what they did and what they ate etc. Again, these can be useful to help plan your own trips. There are now a LOT of UK folk doing this. Every time I open YT on my TV and go to the Home tab, I'll get suggestions of new travel days to watch. Doing this as I type, and YT has suggested a channel called "Tayl As Old As Time" and their travel day. Every time I go to home there will be a vlog of someone I've not previously seen travelling to Orlando. It's incredible. These holiday vloggers typically have far smaller audiences so financial gain will be relatively modest. |

We were in EPCOT for the opening day of Festival of the Holidays last November and although you'd expect it to be riddled with vloggers I only actually remember seeing one person with a fancy camera on a gimble in his hand but he wasn't even using it at the time!

We met Tim tracker a few years ago in EPCOT.
He was really friendly! We asked if we could take a picture and he asked where we were from and we discussed halloween horror nights with him. Honestly seems like a really chilled dude

Yes, the Trackers are millionaires off their vlogging. They are probably the most successful as they were one of the first but there are quite a few US based ones that do it for a living now.

I ended up in the background of a vlogger who was filming whilst in the theatre on the Disney Magic last summer waiting for the show. She sat down in front of me, held up this camera with a microphone on it and started talking to herself with the flipping camera pointed right at her face and as I was sat behind her by default mine too. I found it pretty intrusive to be honest and was more than a little irritated as it's supposed to be a no-recording spot. I was also worried she might get one of my children in shot. I was also not overly impressed when a friend messaged me to say they'd seen me online. I was feeling seasick and looked a mess and you caught a couple of glimpses of my son. I do think that if you are going to post online someone else's image it's at least polite to ask if they mind.

I love Rixflix and hope to meet Him when in the parks also Molly and Jackie from superenthused and Mr Tom morrow.
Love tim too. I personally have no issue with them. Rick does his livestreams and meets loads around the parks and always has time for them. Edited at 05:49 PM. |
