I have in the past always given all my contact details to anyone I am renting points to, so they can have confidence that they will be able to contact me should they need to. This has always included my address (and theirs) because I am very conscious that renting DVC points requires trust and good faith on both sides. I had not considered that this might be a security risk but just a normal part of any contract.
I also stipulate that I do not guarantee to give any refunds, but will do my very best to either change booking or re-rent in order to provide at least a partial refund, should the rentees plans change.

Same here. I draw up an agreement which contains full names and addresses of both parties (including myself) and spell out liabilities and terms. It creates an element of trust for both the renter and the owner. Also use email and Whatsapp. But I understand everyone is different, that's just how I prefer to deal with it.
Generally they are non-refundable because of the difficulty in renting at short notice. But hopefully the OP can get in touch with the owner so at least they know they can see if there are options. |

I am shocked that anyone would rent without getting full name and address on both sides. Firstly any contract should include this basic information as a matter of course and secondly without this information it would virtually impossible to have legal recourse for breach of contract ( on either side).
When I was a member I always used a full legal contract when renting. It set expectations and also protected both parties. |
