Completing forms prior to landing

Can anyone advise if you still have to complete forms on the aircraft prior to landing in the US which you used to hand to immigration or has that all been done away with now and you are just asked the questions instead?
Thanks

No customs forms for us into MCO for maybe the last two years. The automated passport kiosks disappeared sometime in 2018 as well.

You may still be asked by the Immigration Officer if you have food.

Is that because they don't get fed Mick?

If I add any more I'll only encourage the Dibbers who take pleasure in telling us that they have shops in Florida.

However I'll risk it and say we always declare instant coffee as we don't like American brands - and every time the IO will say "you can get that stuff here sir". So I say "No way - do you have colour TV as well?"

Always good to let them know who was in charge back in 1776 I think.

Our immigration officer rolled his eyes on Thursday when I declared tea bags haha. He was actually quite chatty and pleasant compared to some we've encountered in the past!

Fiona hin, when did you last visit the US? Depending when that was they may not want your fingerprints either as, assuming you're going into MCO, they now use biometrics.

Gadgey Mick, last Nov our admitting IO was rather interested when I said we had Christmas pud in our checked luggage (he didn't bat an eyelid or crack a funny about the declared Yorkshire Tea and L'Or coffee), so we ended up telling him about Christmas pud and rum sauce and Christmas cake with extra mature cheese and even first foot with a piece of coal to give the resident who then gives a piece of silver. Canny bloke, we were the only pax at his desk, not another soul in sight, he kindly explained the biometric camera... we were stood in front of the taped off, turned on, kiosks he found it amusing when I pointed, saying, 'lights on but nobody home'!

I'm with you Gadgey, having read CBP's official site re 'importing consumables into the US', my understanding is whilst certain items are admissible we should advise/declare, takes all of a few seconds and keeps me au fait with immigration

You should take a paper copy of your Estas as they may ask for this at immigration

This time we didn't get a miserable officer, we got the specialist one that trains the other in how to be miserable.
He demanded an address of where we were going. We gave the hotel name, only to be told he needed the actual address, and to then be told we should know we needed the address as we have been before (when we didn't need the address).
After stamping the passports, he put them on the shelf between us, got up and walked off.
We collected our cases, called him a few names and cracked on with our holiday.
