This was never an all day park for me but they've made a mess of the fast pass system for HS imo.

I'm just hoping the wait times stay as low when we go in October.

I agree completely... although I kinda don't like fast passes anyway as they tie you down to a really strict plan! That being said ill still book them and use them lol.
They defo need to change this in HS ... its a right pain

Sadly not. As mickeyismybff says, you have to "use" 3 fastpasses before you can book a second tier 1 fastpass.

If you only prebook one tier 1 fastpass and nothing else, then once you've used that fastpass you'll only be able to book tier 2 fastpasses until you reach the 4th fastpass.

BTW, there is one tier 2 ride - Star Tours. But that's the only one. The rest are shows of some sort.

Do you also have to swipe in the tier 2 fast-passes to be allowed a 4th tier 1, or can you just let them expire?

You can let them expire.

Disney's reasoning in a way was sound. They expected attendance to spike when Star Wars opened and so wanted to make sure most people got to experience at least one "Top Tier" attraction when they were in the park.

I expect once Rise of the Resistance and the Mickey ride open the tiers will be revised once again.

You can just let them expire. But that means waiting until after the end of the timeslot period until they are "used". Whereas if you swipe them then they are "used" straight away.

I visited yesterday and did one ride TOT. We left the park and managed to book a last minute Fop at Animal Kingdom (really shocked we go this). I was then looking at the Hs fast passes later on and even though we visited another park it would not let us book tier 1. So the only option is to book rides you don’t intend to ride at all. This aspect seems so pointless. Just thought I’d flag it up.

Are you all talking from experience regarding not being able to get another tier 1 FP if you've only used 1 FP? I'm sure I've done this...now my experience is prior to these massive HS tier changes as we were in WDW the first half of august this year so I cannot say that this will work for HS. But I have booked other tier 1 FP after using only 1 tier 1 FP, I did not have to use 3 FP before booking up an additional tier 1. So, has this changed everywhere the last few weeks? Or is it specific to HS?

I think you've answered my question in my previous post...you must have posted this while I was writing my question.
