Could you not book extend the adventure from 17th instead so you would have access to the room or book a cheap hotel on I drive but just make them aware you would be arriving early am

We tried that but check in latest time is midnight and at that point we will be in the air and they said it would be classed as a no show even if we turned up at 6:30am as it’s past the cut off according to the email from guest services at universal studios

I also don’t want to knacker up the sleeping patterns by sleeping during the day in Orlando as we will already be 3 hours ahead of LA

If they won’t do that, threaten to cancel the whole lot if they can’t sort something out for you. To be honest if they can’t fix that what else will they not be willing to help with.
Speak to them don’t email.

It’s a short domestic flight (4.5hrs), so at the moment there’s nothing showing. We would need to ask at check in.

Not sure that is sensible. Though it seems odd that there is a cut off point when the room has been paid for.

My thoughts exactly! I’ve never known a hotel to do that before.

Is check in online possible? You could check in online in LA and then just pick up your keys when you get there?

I'd either book a day room elsewhere to tide you over dayuse or an extra night the night before at Aventura to guarantee your room will be ready .
Something like Embassy suites at the airport wouldn't be more than $100 maximum , bed, pool , TV so if you didn't sleep on the red eye you could catch up if needs be, if you did you have a pool day. Embassy would be good as you'd have room for one to sleep and the other to use the lounge part if one needs sleep and the other doesn't.
Either option is cheaper than £650 to change flights.
