Shocked! UPDATED post 32

I’m only posting this cos I feel so shocked, my eldest daughter rang me to tell me that our youngest daughter has been assaulted by her partner this morning. He has been arrested and is now on bail with the proviso that he doesn’t contact her or the children, contact with the children is to be via a third party for the time being. With the lockdown we can’t go and visit her but my eldest daughter has been with her all day.
I have suspected that he has hit out before and we know they are both fiery, but this time it seems to have come completely out of the blue. He says it was due to being stressed, she is ok physically apart from a black eye thankfully.
I just feel so helpless... I know she has to make her own mind up and I don’t want to interfere, she knows we are here for her whenever she wants us...

It’s so hard as someone on the outside looking in, as you can see it clearer than the people in the relationship, but until they have the strength to get themselves out, there’s Nothing you can do but be there for them.

At least her and the kids are safe and hopefully now she’s involved the authorities it’s a step in the right direction.

Oh my goodness, what a shocking thing to happen, especially where children are involved. Stress is never an acceptable reason for violence.

Hopefully she will call you tomorrow, maybe you could see her briefly if Covid-safe to do so.

I'm really sorry to read this and can understand your anxiety. I hope your daughter takes this very seriously and doesnt allow her husband to return unless he can make positive changes and that takes a long time.

I personally think you should go and be with your daughter, some things are much more Important. You can go and provide care for another anyway.
