September or October

We are in the very tentative stages of planning another trip. There will be 4 adults (mum, daughter, mum's sister and daughter's friend) so school holidays are not an issue.

We are potentially looking at either September 2021 (middle 2 weeks) or October 2021 (first 2 weeks).

I would love to hear which you think is best in terms of weather, crowds, price, etc - any pros and cons would be appreciated.

Thank you

We did middle two weeks of September last year and it was fantastic. The weather was beautiful (concierge said it was unseasonably hot but we didn’t find it too uncomfortable). It’s still hurricane season but we saw little rain and the showers tended to be around 4/5pm when we were back at the room freshening up anyway! The crowd levels were perfect. Crowd levels are normally lower in September as kids have gone back to school and then it picks up in October for Halloween. I don’t know how much this will change with Star Wars at HS! We are going in December this time for the Christmas decorations but we are definitely doing September time next year 😊

As long as you avoid October half term which you are I wouldn’t have thought there would be very much difference.

We generally do the last week of September and the first week of October, have done for years. No real reason behind it but we fine crowd levels to be acceptable, weather good etc.

Why avoid half term? Crowds in later October are generally lower than later October.
Some US schools do have a half term but its mid October.

- Mid September you have greater chance of storms and rain but crowds are lower.
- Early October you have less humidity but crowds are higher.

I’d agree with this. Slightly lower crowds in September with October having slightly cooler and less humid weather. Otherwise much of a muchness. Although lovebugs are out in September and tend to be gone by October so that may be a factor!

Bear in mind that October 1st 2021 is WDW’s 50th anniversary so will be busy & have various extra events.

Good point, although Im sure the celebrations will be all year long, as with previous celebrations.
