Yes, we've got a 2 bedroom suite and fridge so I'm sure the Columbus will be fine. That makes sense about how to link the C&A offers and there does seem to be some good deals on there.

As for the hotel to choose... lets just say our Vegas hotel is the one thing we just cant decide on! We did look at Carriage House but as its our first visit, we've decided that we do want to stay on strip somewhere between NYNY/MGM and Mirage/Venetian.

Options we had on our list before the weekend were MGM, Vdara (not interested in this anymore as you've pointed out small pool and sofa bed), Mirage, Bellagio, Cosmo (not interested in this one anymore as you've pointed out its not an MGM hotel), Aria and NYNY.

We do want the big LV hotel experience but we also need a good size room as there are 4 of us (me, the wife, DS18 and DS15) so if there are better choices in our list than either The Mirage/Vdara then please suggest away. I thought the Signature at MGM was condos but if that would give us the space we need and we would still get the whole hotel experience by staying there, then maybe that's the one for us. As I say, please suggest away as I'd rather have the benefit of your experience than not have your input.

I'm not sure we will use it, but the wife/kids are insistent on a good pool area, I'd like to spend (lose) some money in the casino and if we can be near an Outback/Ghirardelli/Cheesecake Factory then all the better.

Maybe you could give us a few thoughts on any of the hotels listed above that you've stayed at and highlight any that you think would best suit us?

Thanks Jo

I understand what you are saying. Will just say its difficult...unless you have loads of money to get all you want.
So to prioritize if a big pool comes first definitely discount Carriage House and Vdara.
Mirage has a lovely pool and they are busy putting in extra seating areas at the moment. The staff were second to non including our stay at Venetian. Rooms clean. With that you will have a standard room with 2 queen beds which you will have to book in case they give you a king...so less space. Big casino. We actually won over $200 on the slots there most we have ever won!
NYNY is nice... love the hotel...same bedroom set up but I found room slightly smaller and pool noisy from roller coaster and not as big.
Aria...gorgeous much more expensive...lovely pool
Bellagio ... gorgeous much more expensive didnt go to the pool just looked at it from afar.
Take a look at the prices and see if they are within your range.

The Signature is a condo so extra space and connected to MGM which has great pools. In a studio kids would have to sleep on sofa bed.

NYNY I would say would have more for kids to wander around at night to see...little shops, Park area outside which is lovely. We watched a live band there one evening. Room was dated though and smaller so for 4 for a few days might bother you? Pool way smaller than Mirage. You can walk down there any way of course!

When people talk about the "Vegas" experience I get that but honestly where ever you stay you walk and you can be in another hotel in minutes. Only thing you cant do is go to their pools. Mandalay has a lovely pool but I feel too far south on the strip. Would that bother you? Please bear in mind is will be very busy with sunbathers, and party goers, in August, and very hot. Maybe too hot for some to sit out? So just give that a thought when making your choice. Venetian has gorgeous pools but is pricey and would give you more space. Is that something you could consider just for extra space or will that not be an issue?

If a pool is a priority and a big Vegas casino feel at a reasonable price I would consider Mirage. Just ask if you have any questions

Sorry forgot to say about MGM. Not stayed there so would never comment. Pools I have been to and they were lovely. Think the kids would like the pool. For me there is just something about the hotel I dont like. Size maybe, dont know, but just dont like it. Loads of others on here do so that may be a good choice for you too but again just the 2 queen beds. Definitely a big casino feel to it. Please dont be put off by me its just my choice.
Some pools in some hotels are adult only but I am sure you have read that.

Cheescake is in the Forum Shops just down from Mirage, and there is an Outback by Casino Royal across the road. If you google you will see them. Not been to Ghiradelli but sure its in the Linq Casino across the road and maybe 10 mins to walk. Linq promenade has Gordon Ramsays and In and Out Burger which we like.

I think our first priority would be a decent sized room with at least 2 queen beds but preferably with a separate bedroom, and then (in no particular order) a strip view, a nice pool area, a casino and near good places to eat/shop. Outback, Ghiradelli, Cheesecake, In N Out Burger, Ben & Jerry, Walgreens, Subway etc all seem to be near Mirage which is why we were leaning towards that one and it does seem to be reasonably priced as well.

Aria and Bellagio do look expensive and The Signature would give us extra space but is it actually on the strip? Are there options there for 1 and 2 bed condos and if there are then I'm guessing they would be expensive too?

MGM looks absolutely massive and at the wrong end for the restaurants/shops we know we like, same as NYNY which also has smaller rooms/pool than Mirage, so we just keep coming back to that one all the time.

Signature is not strictly on the strip...like Carriage House but the walk is so short its hardly worth mentioning. If you stay in some of the bigger hotels on the strip, like Bellagio, you would have the same walk from your room to get to the strip even if they are directly on the strip.
We often have the same problem as you, as we travel with our DD and son in law. We prioritize over space first for that reason. Suites with a bedroom are expensive. We stayed in a 2 bed at Jockey club but no pool to speak of although you can use the Cosmo pool and some of the rooms face a brick wall. Defo not a big strip hotel experience even though it has a secret door right into the Cosmo. No resort fee. So trying to find all you want will be pricey. We liked having 2 bedrooms fridge freezer, settee etc. and actually some rooms have a view of the Bellagio fountains. Pure luck if you get one though We then go for 2 rooms if we cant get a suite but of course more money!

Mirage can give you the nice pool, strip view, but a regular room unless you pay a fortune for a suite. I love the location its my favorite area of the strip. Looking at your dates its very reasonable. Have you looked at the rates through mlife? You can cancel any rate on there but also be aware that rates can go up daily. We find Expedia quite good too but book with mlife through the C&A...cant do that yet of course.

Most of the strip hotel rooms are regular size... in that you are not going to significantly notice a massive difference in a 2 bed queen room between 4 people.

If a separate bedroom is a priority you may have to give up pool and view...or 2 rooms. Can say we loved Mirage

Been twice to the Mirage, first time 18 years ago when we got married and then a few years after for an anniversary. It was my fave Hotel till Wynn/Encore last year

Wynn/Encore will be my fave for a very long time, although I wouldn't rule out the Mirage if the price was right.

My friends are at the mirage now and really like it . Though I did have friends stay there last year who thought the rooms were tired but they are used to the Bellagio .

My kids have been to Vegas a lot and like the big hotels as do we .
Carriage house as nice as it is would not be for us .

My two ( teenagers ) loved NYNY, Planet Hollywood and tropicana on the strip .

NYNY and MGM are not the wrong end of the strip at all . There is loads of do down that end stuff that appeals to teens like M&Ms world , Hershey’s , Adidas store plus all of the hotels that end have decent food courts ..You also have Outback , Walgreens , cvs , Panda Express , subway that end

And it really doesn’t take long to walk to the linq to In N Out burger etc

I’ve just been in Vegas and like every trip walked miles daily and we spent as much time on the south end as anywhere else on the strip . I’ve stayed all ends of the strip and the South would always be my preference.

Everyone has their own preferences I guess that won't necessarily always match up with yours. Thanks for the comments though.

Thanks will definitely consider Signature if that's the case and a decent size room is a top priority I think. Mlife rates do look reasonable for a few of the options we've been through so think we just need to get something booked on a cancellable rate. Now if only we could make a decision as to which hotel... 😆😆😆
