Heartbroken - my Dad died
I'm completely heartbroken and at a loss. My dad died suddenly on Monday. Went to work as normal but didn't come home. He's 72.
Mum said he'd had a couple of dizzy spells a few weeks ago but wouldn't go the doctors. There has got to be an inquest now (Nov!) and reported to the HSE as he was at work. Funeral pencilled in for 31st which seems like ages away. I'm dreading this weekend looking after mum. My sister lives away so only me and my DH, DS and DD. Kids are only 12 and 10 so complete confused by it all. I've so far spent all week at mum's and she's been for tea but weekend seems harder. Everyone keeps saying take time for me but that seems to be the half an hour before sleep or early when I wake. Most my friends don't know yet as I can't face telling more people he's died. My Dad is my everything, even at 47 I'm a daddy's girl. I'm not sure what I'll do without him. Sorry for the sad post but it's easier taking to strangers. |

I’m so sorry to hear your sad news. I lost my mum 9 years ago- we were very close. In time your wonderful relationship with each other may bring you some comfort. Hugs to you and your family x

I’m so sorry for your loss, what a terrible shock for you all.
It’s really important to allow yourself some time to grieve and to look after yourself a little, I know that your mum is your priority at the moment which is understandable but you need to be well enough to do that. Could your sister come and visit to offer your mum support and give you even a short time with your husband or a good friend? Ive got no words of wisdom, I’m a daddy’s girl too and know how lost and bereft I’d feel without him. Take care xx |
