They were very good last year but there are problems with their Dreamliners at the moment. I hope they can survive this.

They seem to get good reviews when they are using their own aircraft but its their financial situation that bothers a lot of people as they cannot seem to make their longhaul routes profitable at the prices they charge so are bleeding quite a lot of money.

Flew to LA with them last year and we are doing the same to San Francisco this year. if you can go Premium it is well worth the price.

As for there issues, they are due comp from Boeing over the 737 (I think that's the right plane) issues, the have again been voted best long haul budget airline, they have stopped expanding so hopefully there finances will become more stable.

I thought all of their problems were financial. I didn’t think there had been problems anywhere with the Dreamliner

Our flights to nyc were messed around last year. We had to swap dates to avoid the dreaded hiFly replacement. BUT the actual flights were very good. 4 return adult flights at Easter for £1200 you can’t go wrong!
We didn’t try the food so can’t comment. The staff were low key, I suppose as they weren’t coming around with food and drinks.
However I’m not sure if I am happy to fly with them again given their issues, it’s a gamble until we know if they will survive

They made two aquisition mistakes that have impacted on their already stretched finances as they seek to expand into the long haul market.

1. They bought 36 X B787-8 Dreamliners and selected the RR Trent 1000 to power all of them. The engine has issues with wear and all are subject to phased replacement as RR take in and mod those engines.

2. They invested heavily in a fleet of 26 X B737 max of which 18 are delivered. All are currently grounded as Boeing investigate the two fatal crashes.

As a result of 1 & 2, They are having to 'wet lease' from other airlines and the service has apparently not always been great. I hope and believe that Norwegian will weather this turbulent period.
I fly London Boston on 18 July, then Miami London on 09 August with them, both in B787 and am looking forward to it.

Norwegian have a fleet of app 170 aircraft (mainly 737-800) and it is one of the youngest fleets in the world in terms of aircraft age.

I’m looking at Norwegian flights for October 2019...the outbound flight is being listed as hifly...from the comment above is this to be avoided at all costs or does it not really matter?

We ended up on a hifly plane a couple of years ago (although if my dreadful memory serves me correctly, I think that was instead of a Thomas Cook flight we had been expecting), and I had dreaded it as I’d read lots of terrible reviews, but actually it was fine - we loaded up iPads with films and tv shows for the boys and the limited films they had onboard weren’t too bad. The flight itself was uneventful and the seats were comfy - the only thing I can’t comment on is the food, as no one in our family touches the plane food full stop on any airline! Haha!
