Hilton Universal City
Hi All,
Has anyone stayed here before? Would you recommend? Or are there alternatives nearby that are better for a similar price? Thanks

Stayed for 2 nights last year, if you’re going to Universal the location is great, it’s walkable or they do offer a shuttle. Other than that typical Hilton rooms, a bit tired, breakfast overpriced.

It's a pretty good hotel and I can recommend it (depending on price). Good location but, as dotb states, it's the typical Hilton decor from the late-nineties.
I'm not sure if you are a Hilton Honors member but this was the only hotel where I've been upgraded in all my California stays. |

I am a hilton honors member so hopefully this works - was this ok location wise as a base for doing other tourist bits around hollywood?
I'm used to the tired rooms now, they are very 90's!

I think so, depending on your itinerary. You are in a good spot for Universal, the Hollywood sign and Warner Bros studio tour. Attractions in Hollywood itself are 15-20 minutes away by car. I can't think of many better places to stay, particularly if your main reason for staying is proximity to Universal.

If you didn't want to drive in to Hollywood the hotel is only a few minutea walk away from the metro which is one stop to Hollywood/Highland, pretty much the centre of Hollywood.

Great shout - thank you!
This is a silly question but is it safe as we will be travelling with our 4 yr old.

Last time we went we stayed just around the corner from walk of fame this year staying in the Hilton At Universal. It’s really easy to get to main Hollywood attractions from here and just one stop on the metro. Although always felt safe in walk of fame area actually preferred to be around city walk at universal at night and plenty of food options there.

Hi,
We stayed here last year (our second time at this hotel) and would stay again. They gave us the wrong room when we got there but was quickly sorted (we had booked a Universal view and they moved us the next day - we stayed for 5 nights) and because of the mess up gave us free wifi and full breakfast buffet for the duration and about 6 bottles of water. They could do enough. We stayed for a few days and used an uber one morning (super early!) to get to walk of fame ($7.71 - just checked), our first experience of using uber, it was so easy We had booked a hop on hop off bus tour which brought us back to the hotel in the afternoon so all in all dead easy. Would do it all again without doubt. Enjoy your trip! Sean |

Yes that section of the red metro line is perfectly safe. I'd probably avoid travelling back too late at night at night though but that's not specific to here.
The line also goes on into downtown LA which is worth a look around if you have the time but most people skip (personally I think it's one of the best bits of LA). |
