This is the back of the castle though. I've seen recent pictures of the front and there is hardly any scaffolding left.

To the castle?

They are returning it to its form glory

Back to looking like it did when DLP first opened.
And good timing too, given that it celebrates its 20th birthday in 2012

They are painting it once more in its bright graduated pink colour and reworking the brickwork at the bottom near the dragon's cave to the fantastic blue/grey effect which in recent years had been worn away by the weather.

Reports from those who have seen the work to date say it look excellent.

In addition they are adding block paving to huge areas around the central plaza and the area behind the castle - replacing the previous concrete slabs.

This not only looks better, it will be easier to maintain. CM's only having to replace a block if it gets damaged, rather than roping off huge sections of walkway to replace concrete. In addition it should provide less slippage in those winter snowy months!
