Really, that's great Well I stand corrected that removes the sense urgency as I don't even need a car.

I'm just giving that as an example (and those prices were BA via Netflights). We were unable to confirm work hols at that time, and booked at Christmas (again via Netflights) for £500 each for travel the following August. Via BA they were around £700 at that time.

I wouldn't want you holding off on the basis of what I saw last year 😀

We live near a city in the UK and drive on motorways nearly every day. We were dreading LA driving - it was fine ! We didn't find it manic or aggressive. It helps to check your route before you travel so you have a general idea of where you are heading, stay calm & if you miss an exit simply carry on to the next one. When traffic is bad, you need patience, but at slow speeds little can go wrong !

We did Pacific Highway from San Fran to LA - it was really easy, good quality road & lots of signposted stopping points (marked Vista Point) with car parking.

On thing I would say, unless you really need it, return the car in San Fran as soon as you arrive (or get free parking with hotel and leave it there). Parking charges are horrendous - our hotel (not fancy) was $39 plus tax per night.

I looked from London , not sure if it makes a difference , my first dates I put in were from 26th July , when I tried to go later towards end of august prices were not as good.

I have decided to hold off , I prefer less crowds plus hopefully hotels etc may be slightly cheaper if its not American holidays.

Me too Logic being, I had a cheaper price last year and still would have like to have been away for my birthday, so i'll be in exactly the same situation.
