Florida West coast and Keys in Sept

Hi

I have been to Florida many times - Jan, March, June/Jul, August and Oct/Nov.

My favourite time to go is October as we love all the halloween stuff and the weather is perfect.

My least favourite was August as it was incredibly hot and humid, but then again it was end June / July this year on AMI.

Next year we are looking at doing a trip starting in the keys, then AMI finishing up in Orlando to fit in the early days of HHN. We can travel in term time either end of June or early Sept as my daughter won't be in college on those dates. A colleague has already booked a holiday for the June hence why I am now left with only Sept. (or school hols but thinking about the prices)

I know it is peak Hurricane season but that aside what is the heat and humidity like the first 2 weeks of Sept - particularly down the west coast / keys - not too bothered about the Orlando days.

We have been in SW Florida since early September after Dorian delayed us by 2 days. It has been exceptionally hot this year with the thermometer on our lanai recording 100+ on several days, today its 96. We have had hardly any rain save a short sprinkle on two days. The humidity has been very high tapering off a little towards the end of the month. Last year the temperatures were similar.

We have been down to Boca Grande on several occasions and paddled or swam in the sea and it was warm after the initial dip 😜

You can't go wrong anywhere on the West Coast. If you don't want to drive all the way down to the Keys then centre your accommodation round Fort Myers and take the ferry to Key West. You can either do a day trip or stay a few days to get the most out of KW. It's easy to walk round KW.

If you do want to drive down then take your time and enjoy several stop offs on the way. The drive through the Keys is spectacular?

Enjoy 😎
