Miami Airport

Hi

Flying into Miami for the first time this December.
I’m a member of Avis proffered so usually in Orlando I just go straight to the garage and bypass the desks.

Do Avis have this set up at Miami?
Or is the Alamo kiosks the only option to avoid any potential hard sell?

The car centre is a monorail ride away from the main terminals - but as noted easily signposted. You then avoid the desk on the upper floor and go directly to the garage.

Been straight to the garage on all visits to Miami, only had to talk to someone when we went to the bay allocated on the board, and the bay was empty so had to go speak to someone, worked out in our favour as we received a free upgrade. Have done this 3 times now and never had any issues.

Our name is never on the board! We queued for nearly an hour at the booth in the garage on Christmas Day, tempers we’re starting to fray, ours included!

Yep - that's been my experience too with the name on board. Preferred customer, not a first rental, but no name ever on the board. Saying that, I always hire full size SUVs, so I don't know if they treat them a bit differently for some reason.

Luckily, the last 2 years in a row, we've stayed at airport hotels on our arrival night and then gone to the garage the next morning about 9am . In both cases, we were the only people there but could be complete luck/coincidence.

Similar experience to Pussycat Doll & robrob71, name never on the board but never had to wait more than a few minutes.

We have hired a range of cars so I don't think its the type of car you are hiring that causes the problem. I think they are so busy they don't have time to update.

They have always had our details to hand when we do check in at Miami.

I have picked up at Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers, Sarasota & even Charlotte in NC and our name was on the board!

Sorry guys - quick question. Is the 'name on a board' things just for Avis?

I'm using MIA airport next month for the 1st time. Booked with Alamo & doing 'Skip the Counter'. Is our car pre-allocated (via this board system) or will we get to choose?
